Danny Saul is a London-based composer for film and television with expertise in combining cutting-edge electronics with evocative instrumental scores. Along with collaborators John Lunn (Downton Abbey, Grantchester), and Faroese vocal sensation Eivør Pálsdóttir, he is co-composer of the music for the No.1 Netflix series The Last Kingdom (2018-2023) and the the feature-length final instalment Seven Kings Must Die. Saul is also co-composer for primetime BBC crime drama Shetland (series 9 & 10, alongside John Lunn).
Danny is a frequent collaborator of multiple highly acclaimed award-winning composers including Ruth Barrett, Benjamin Wallfisch, Chris Egan and Ben Onono on work spanning multiple genres across big budget film and TV productions. His additional music credits include HBO’s It prequel series Welcome To Derry, Mortal Kombat 2, Law & Order: Organised Crime, and Jamestown.
Synth programming credits include The Girlfriend (Amazon 2025), The Decameron (Netflix 2025), and Mark Tonderai’s supernatural thriller Spell (2020).
Danny was awarded a PhD in Music (2016) and a Masters in Music with Distinction (2012) from the University of Manchester.
